NEW VID: Drop the Pilot by Joan Armatrading

atlantisgloom
Well, this may or may not be my last vid for a few days seeing as I'm leaving for Japan on Tuesday, but we'll see. I'm sure I'll find time to do lots more! Not to mention that I think I already know what song to use for today's ep (it's been brewing since July...). Yes, I know, OBSESSED!! Not my fault. You guys encourage this attitude.
Anyway, this was a special request by Leah. Hope I did justice to you vision!
HUGE THANK YOU to [info]illman who's hosting the vids at her Streamload account.

Very nice. I liked that, especially on the images that went with the chorus. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous vid! Once again, a real winner. I laughed myself sick at some of those "drop the monkey" clips. LOL Another song I never heard, but which fit them perfectly.

I'm leaving for Japan on Tuesday

Wow! That's great! Have a fantastic trip. We will truly miss you. Next Friday just won't be the same - you've spoiled us so shamelessly the past few weeks with your great vids!

I was the person who'd asked you what system you used to make vids. Just wanted to let you know, you right, Windows Movie Maker came with the new computer. I was playing around with it some today. Managed to get the music in, but, god, there seems to be no way to get the darn thing to read the DVD. Is there some secret? Do I need to offer it a chicken on the full moon or maybe bribe it with Godiva chocolates? LOL After spending the whole day fiddling with this program, my admiration for your vids has only grown! :)

Anyway, have the best time in Japan.

Cheers.

Aah, you just asked the million dollar question... I'm not sure what to do with DVDs. I've been asking myself that too. The reason I'm not making SG-1 vids (other than the fact there are 9 FREAKING SEASONS!) is that I have them on DVD, and SGA I have as .avi... I need to figure out if I can get DVDs to work on Movie Maker, but I have a feeling they don't. *grumbles*
LOL! I do spoil you guys, but you write me such nice reviews, how can I not?? I have an idea about my next 2 vids (one is VERY short and everyone is gonna run after me with sticks and stones for it), but I'll need to DL SGA ASAP after tonight to see if I finish at least one of them before the trip ^___^

Hi, again.

Aah, you just asked the million dollar question... I'm not sure what to do with DVDs. I've been asking myself that too.

I suspect that it has something to do with trying to prevent copyright infringement, but I sure am glad it wasn't just me. LOL

So, when you make the avi file, are you pulling it from a video tape? Or downloading it from one of those on-line sites? To be honest, this is making tape to tape vidding seem a cakewalk. Never thought I'd miss my stopwatch! LOL

You can really do a vid by Tuesday? Jeez, you must have the entire series memorized scene by scene! I've been going through first season with the sound off picking the scenes for the song I want to do. Forgot how long that process takes. And, of course, I also realized halfway through it that all of first season is still on tape, not DVD. Not that the DVDs have been exactly helpful in this process. LOL

Well, anyway, thanks so much for letting me know I wasn't going crazy.

Have the best of time in Japan.

By the way, do you like to be called Lilas or Pavlov's Kitten?

I'm Ro (Tira Nog).

Cheers.

Haven't yet watched the vid, and I'm really not good on technical things, but maybe, if you decrypt a DVD to your computer, and change the .vob ending into .mpeg then the Movie Maker might take it. I'm not sure, since I use Power Director, but it might be worth a try.

Thanks so much for your advice. I'm just learning, so the whole thing is very bewildering. Will give it a try! Cheers.

Hey Ro!
Lilas is fine ^^ It's my online pen-name as well as one of my many nicknames.

Huh, I hadn't thought about the 'copyright infrigement' thing... Goes to show how much I care *sheepish look* But that's probably the reason. I DL the episodes online via bittorrent or Direct Connect (though bittorrent goes faster).

HAHAHAHA!!! tape-to-tape!! Oh my GOD! I remember that! I did one vid like that when I was in 9th grade with a friend of mine. It was a Gundam Wing vid to a Backstreet Boys song. It took us a week to make it... Wow... It was such a pain in the ass! But yes, Movie Maker, as annoying and crappy as it is, makes it SO much easier to make vids! It's fantastic.

As for making a vid by Tuesday (Monday night, actually. My flight leaves at 8AM, so I need to be at the airport by 5:30AMish), it all depends on when I get episode 208. My record time of making a vid is 2 days, but would have been 1 if Movie Maker had been cooperating (which is never is). Besides, one of the songs is only 39 seconds (*LAUGHS!*) We'll see... we'll see... If not, I'll be making them in Japan (man, the jetlag is going to kill! espeically to see the series...)

Hey, if you want, I can try sending you the episodes on avi... I have every single SGA ep. Oh, and that answers another question of yours. Yes, I know the eps pretty much by heart ^^ I much have watched all the eps of season 1 at least three times each, and I've seen most of the season 2 eps at least twice (re-runs at midnight on TV, and then sometimes I rewatch them on my comp). I'm just a LITTLE obsessed... Just a bit...

*wavies*

Hi, again, Lilas!

I'm so sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had company this weekend and then a medical procedure done, and this is the first chance I've had since the two minutes I read email on Monday to answer anything.

You're most probably in Japan now. I hope you are having the time of your life. That sounds like such an exciting place to visit! Enjoy it.

I did one vid like that when I was in 9th grade with a friend of mine. It was a Gundam Wing vid to a Backstreet Boys song. It took us a week to make it...

I used to vid when I was in Sentinel fandom. My buddy and I had a whole technique worked out. It used to take us an average of three days to make a 3-4 minute song, so I can appreciate how it's take a week.

Hey, if you want, I can try sending you the episodes on avi...

Thanks so much. That is so incredibly kind of you. A friend gave me a program to make the eps avi, so rather than put you through all that, I'll attempt to make the eps usable (at least the ones I have on DVD).

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Anyway, have the best time!

Cheers!

Great! I would have never thought of using that song (not that I knew it) but it makes sense. Thanks.

Loved it! For some reason I found the part where John tried (and failed) to snap the stick over his knee absolutely hilarious. *rofl*

Hope you're able to make some more stuff soon!

I'm trying to get hold of SA episodes because I've only seen a few from season 1, being new to the fandom and living in the UK where it's on while I'm at work. I have an abject fear of bittorrent though.

I don't really want to wait 'til October to see season 2. Maybe I should quit my job, lol.

That was FRICKIN BRILLIANT!!! I think I may have said that about your last vid but this one is even *MORE* FRICKIN BRILLIANT!!! OK? LOL!

The clips were perfect! I've always loved the song. Your editing is fantastic. The whole thing just comes together so well!

Fantastic!

Hey, you KNOW this song??
I had to go off and find it after Leah proposed it to me, and even then I was like 'OMG! 80s music!' But it sort of grew on me, and the lyrics, as Leah squeals about, are really just perfect ^___^

Hey! Don't poke fun at my age! And no, not telling - you can try and guess if you like... OK, older than Ford, younger than Rodney and that's all I'm saying... Really. Not saying anymore. Nuh-uh. LOL!

Yeah, I know this song. I actually have it on a "Best of the 80's" CD. Which also has Big Country on it - from which I made a Carson vid.

I confess I find it slightly amusing when you young'uns go "OMG! 80s music!" - it's not like all 80s music was the same. Well, at least not in my part of the world. Midnight Oil were hugely different from INXS who very different to the Hoodoo Gurus who were really different from Split Enz who were worlds away from The Choirboys

There are some 80s songs that are hugely viddable! Go forth, young woman, and discover!

I totally expect your next vid to be to a Duran Duran song! Hey, I rather liked "Hungry Like the Wolf"... LOL!

HAHAHAHAHA!!! So I'm being commisioned to vid 80s music? *snkrs* Besides, I wouldn't know any American 80s music, seeing as I grew up in France and listened to French 80s music, so there ^___^ That's my excuse for that.

As for my next vid, I can research that song, but I already have a song lined up for it. Have had since July, I've just been waiting for Conversion to air (and to get it) in order to get started ^^

This was awsome. Took me two or three runs to really apprechiate all the jokes and the lyrics being to very well matched by the clips but no I just love it.

And I hadn't heard this song in far to long a time so thanks for that alone.

This is AWESOME, one of my three favourite vids out there -- the others being One Week and Kryptonite -- and just so perfectly fitting, fast-paced, well-cut; really have to applaud you.

Thanks!

I'm SO recommending this...
